Brad Steiger’s Childhood Nighttime Spirit Visitors
Renowned author Brad Steiger and his sister lived in a home built on the site of old stagecoach stop. Imagine the traffic each night when two children tried to sleep, but the ghosts became pretty active.
“My sister and I shared similar experiences. Our home was built on the site of the old stagecoach stop where Jesse James and the boys stopped on the way to the Great Northfield, Minnesota Bank Raid. Hearing the sounds of horses coming down the lane, especially at night, was common for us. We’d fall asleep and then there would be someone bending over and staring at us. My sister and I saw solid people wearing suits…men’s style really hasn’t changed since the Civil War. The women were wearing clothes that did not seem contemporary to 1940s when I grew up. So I grew up feeling that spirit or ghost phenomena are just a normal part of life.”

My daughter used to talk to someone in the corner of her room when she was a toddler. Once she went missing for an hur and we were frantic then she ‘re-appeared’ in a spot we had already checked. The strange thing was that she was wearing a daisy chain and she was far too young to have made it herself. She never appeared disturbed by these events in fact she always seemed very happy about them. My daughter is 21 now and we often talk about it and also how she saw her deceased grandmother on the stairs when she was a teenager.
As an aside we had a spirit guest in our flat a couple of years ago. We christened her Kim and she used to look in on our son when he was in his cot. He’s 3 now but we don’t live in the same house. It would have been interesting to observe whether he saw her or not.
